Prayer: Our Father in heaven, we have heard your Word preached yesterday, and we are humbled at your gracious provision of this means of grace for your people. We are thankful to you for giving us your most holy Word, so we would not wander in darkness. Your word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. It is our bread, the bread of life. Through it, we eat and live. We confess to you our poor attention regarding your Word. We acknowledge that we do not always come to it reverently and humbly. We confess that we often read it and then quickly forget what we have read. Help us, by your Spirit, to do what we hear. Help us to consume your Word with great joy and delight. Strengthen us, Father, as your children and be gracious to us, we pray in the name of your Son, our Lord, and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.
