Prayer: Our God, you are glorious and mighty, the true sovereign of heaven and earth. You appoint rulers and authorities. You exalt them, and you remove them. You have called your people to submit to their rule when they do not ask them to break your perfect moral law. You have told us to pray for kings and all those in authority over us. Yet, too often, we grumble and complain about these people. We are vile in our words and say things that break your law, and sin against you. Forgive us, Father, for not living the truths contained in your Word regarding these civil authorities. Grant us a greater understanding of these truths. We pray for our leaders today. We ask that you would work in them a right understanding of the gospel of your Son. We ask that you would open their eyes to the truth of your Word. We plead with you to humble their arrogance and bind their hands so they may not commit any evil act. We ask that you would use them to advance your kingdom and benefit your church. We trust your divine providence in these matters and cast ourselves upon your care alone. We pray this in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, the true and perfect King. Amen.
