Prayer: Our most glorious God and Father, we praise you and thank you for hearing the cries of your redeemed people, condescending to their lowly estate, and listening intently to our pleas for help in our time of need. We confess that we are a needy and poor people, but thankful that you bless those who are poor in spirit. We come to you, our God, knowing that as we dwell in the shelter of the Most High, we will find rest and relief from the troubles of this life. We thank you for providing the means to help us rest secure in your presence. Each Lord’s Day, you rend the heavens and come down and meet with your people, speaking to them through the reading and preaching of your most holy Word. Each Lord’s Day, we benefit from your presence and the fellowship of the saints as we gather together as fellow pilgrims in a world that is not our home. We thank you for your infinite faithfulness to us and pray that through the Eternal Spirit, we would seek you daily, desiring your presence and the comfort that comes from knowing the one true God who loves and cherishes us. We further thank you for the protection you give to your church. Though many may rise against you and your Son and the Kingdom that is not of this world, we know that no harm can truly come to us because nothing can remove us from your hand: not death, life, angels, rulers, things present or things to come, powers, heights, depths, nor anything else in all creation can separate us from the love we enjoy through Christ our Lord. Each day you order the affairs of our life and cover us with your wings increasing your might and power over the affairs of this world you made. We thank you that you dwell in the heavens and do whatever you please, confident that your purposes will stand for a thousand generations. Please help us, Father, to trust you with every fiber of our being. Please grant us the zeal to love you as you have commanded us. Please give us what you command and do it for the good of your glorious name and the blessing of your church purchased by the Lord Jesus Christ. We pray all of these things in His wonderful and matchless name. Amen.
