Prayer: Our Father in heaven, you alone are holy and good, the one true God and Savior of sinners. In Christ, you have drawn rebellions, sin-wrecked people to yourself and granted them an incorruptible inheritance full of grace and glory. Because of the work of your only begotten Son and our Savior, we now enjoy fellowship with you and peace of conscience. In Christ alone, we find perfect righteousness; therefore, there is no longer any condemnation for those found in him. We thank you, Father, for your infinite love demonstrated in your Son, the lord Jesus Christ. We further thank you for not leaving us to our desires and ways, but you have given us your holy, infallible, and inspired Word that is a light to our path. In it we find your perfect mind and will, and through it, we draw strength and comfort as we pilgrim through this life to that promised by you. You have designed your church to sit under the preaching of your Word each Lord’s Day that we might hear the living voice of Christ speaking to us. We confess that we do not always seize that privilege by meditating on what we hear and seeking to bring forth fruit in our lives. Forgive us, Father, for setting aside your tremendous gift. Please grant us more zeal and delight in your Word, and please help us to obey that which we hear with joy in our service to you. These things we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen. Jas. 1:25
