Prayer: Grant, Almighty God, that you would be pleased to bless your redeemed people according to your mercies and grace so that we would be strengthened by your Spirit to love and serve you as you have commanded. We pray that you would be gracious to us and bless us and make your face shine upon us and, as you do, turn our hearts to you so we would make your Name known wherever your divine providence takes us this day. We know that we cannot praise you if you do not move our hearts to love and honor you. As we are weak creatures of dust, we cannot live, move, or do anything without your kindness enabling us to do all you have told us. We thank you for being pleased to bless us because you find us in Christ, your beloved Son. Though you have been good to undeserving people, we know that we fall very short of all your demand of your people. Too quickly, we turn to that which never satisfies. Too often, we seek our own will and kingdom. Forgive us, Father, for being shortsighted, giving in to the passions of our flesh instead of submitting to your will. Therefore, our God, please help us and be kind to us. Please be patient with your redeemed people and help us to love you. Please grant us an abundance of your Spirit today and cause us to be glad and sing for joy because of all you have done for us. These things we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
