Prayer: Our Father, we bless and praise your name today because you alone are good and righteous, a God who does all things well and orders all things according to your most perfect and holy will. We thank you for being sovereign over all things, ordaining our past events, and bringing to pass all that will happen in our future. We thank you for giving us your Word, which details your work in history and the work of redemption brought to pass by the work of your Son and our Lord. We know that we are to teach our children these things, but we often fail to do so. Your Word tells us not to hide your redemptive work from our children, yet we do, at times, and we are sorry. We know that we are to raise our children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord, but often we allow the world to do the heavy lifting. Please forgive us, Father. Forgive us for not pointing the next generation to the glorious deeds you have done. Forgive us for not prioritizing our days around your Word and instructing our children about you. We know that we give far too much emphasis and priority to other things — things that are not necessarily wrong or sinful but have supplanted our primary responsibility to raise our children to love you with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. Please help us to teach them the important truths found in your Word. Please help us do it day and night we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
