Prayer: Our God in heaven, we sing to you, we sing praises to you, we tell of your wondrous works that you have done for your redeemed people who are the apple of your eye and your treasured possession. We sing for joy because of your work of redemption in turning our hearts of stone into hearts of flesh. We sing because you are good and kind, a God who makes promises to his people and will never fail them. We sing because you are patient toward us, not treating us as our sins deserve. We sing because, through the gift of song, we can express the attitude of our hearts and tell of your wonderful work in our lives. We sing songs of praise and thanksgiving, and we sing songs of mourning and lament when we fail you and transgress your law.
Forgive us, Father, and help us, your needy people, that we would walk in newness of life. We mourn indwelling sin. We grieve over actual sin. We lament how forgetful we are about your Word. Please help us through the eternal Spirit to delight in your law and meditate on it day and night.
We pray for your church and your people today. Though they are often assailed by the Enemy and mistreated by the wicked, we ask that you would remember to protect them and care for them. Watch over the bride of Christ and purify her, making her ready for her Husband. We pray that the Word preached this past Lord’s Day would encourage and strengthen your people. We ask that you seal the truths of your Word to your people, causing them to walk with you and persevere in this adulterous and wicked generation we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
