Prayer: Almighty God, we thank you that you hear us when we cry out to you. Though we often worry and grow anxious at the efforts of bad actors and evil people, we do not need to fret because you are our shield. You are the one who defends us from slander, mocking, bitterness, and cursing of other people. We look back at your hands’ work and take note of your goodness to us in defending us and sustaining us. Forgive us for our forgetful ways and fretting about things we cannot change. Please grant us a greater zeal to cry out to you for help in times of difficulty we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Scripture Meditation: Ps. 3
Prayer: Our God in heaven: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we give you praise because of your great work of salvation that you have wisely brought through the labors of your beloved Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Though we are undeserving of your love, you have decreed to rescue us from the misery that is our sin and bring us gloriously into your kingdom. We thank you for saving us and giving us your Spirit. Though we still struggle with the world, the flesh, and the devil, we know that you will persevere us to the very end of our lives and bring us safely into the New Heavens and the New Earth. Therefore, Father, please help us and increase in us a greater affection for the Savior. Please give us a willing heart and mind to do all that you have commanded.
We pray that you will sustain us today. Though some would accuse and demean us, we rest on you and your Word. Though some slander us and say all kinds of evil about us, we trust you. Though some say they love but do not demonstrate it according to your Word, we know you love us and will never fail us. We confess that we are often troubled by the actions of men — actions that are done in secret to destroy and ruin — we know that you see, and you hear, and you will judge according to your perfect righteousness and wisdom. Forgive us, Father, for our lack of love, and forgive us for our lack of control over our tongue. We know that if anyone does not sin with his words, he is a perfect man able to bridle his whole body. Therefore, please help us to carefully guard against the restless evil that exists within us for we often fail in this area. Thank you for being kind and just and forgiving us when we fail you. These things we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Scripture Meditation: Eph. 2:1-3; Jas. 3:1-12; 4:11-12
Grant, Almighty God,
since the doctrine of Thy gospel sounds daily in our ears when Thou invites us so kindly by Thy amazing clemency and stretch out Thy hand by Thine only begotten Son —
Grant, I pray Thee, that we may be of a teachable and flexible disposition, and that we may sincerely submit to Thee,
And since Thy law contains so many dreadful examples of Thy wrath, may we be moved by them, and may we walk with fear and trembling in obedience to Thy Word, that at length we may enjoy that inheritance Thou hast promised for us in Thy heavenly kingdom, by the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Scripture Meditation: Ezek. 20:13-20
Prayer: Grant almighty God, though we are creatures of dust, that you would help and sustain us, your redeemed people for the sake of our souls and your zeal to glorify your only begotten Son. We confess our weakness and mourn the struggle we have with indwelling sin. Thank you for having promised never to leave us or forsake us. Though we witness many who abandon us, we are thankful that you will never do so. You are patient and kind and continue to work to conform us into the image of your Son. Though we are aliens and strangers in this world, our hope is not in this life but in the life to come as promised by your unchanging and inspired Word. Therefore, we pray for your people who may be hurting today. We pray for your sustaining grace as they endure attacks of every kind. We ask that you would uphold them in this wicked and adulterous generation. We ask for more of your Spirit working in the lives of your people with an ever-increasing measure of grace given day unto day.
We pray that we would gladly join with the myriads of your people in public worship today to sing your praise and sit at your feet to hear from you as your Word is read and especially preached. We thank you for the means of grace given to us and ask that you would move us to use them diligently, with zeal and delight. We further ask that you would bless them to the glory of your kingdom and our good. Finally, we thank you, Father, for being patient with us and ask that you would not abandon the work of your hands in our lives. These things we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Scripture Meditation: Rom. 7:13-25; Matt. 28:18-20; Titus 1:1-3; Phil. 1:6; 2 Tim. 4:1-5
Prayer: Grant Almighty God that you would defend and vindicate your redeemed people from the efforts of evil and wicked men who rise up against you and your church. We rest on the promise that the gates of hell will never prevail against the church of the Lord Jesus Christ. As the church militant, we ask that the commander of the armies of the Lord of hosts would go before us, leading and guiding us, protecting us as we battle against the world, the flesh, and the devil. We know that our warfare is not with flesh and blood but against the rulers and authorities and against the cosmic powers over this present darkness and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore, Father, please arm your people with the weapons of our warfare. Please grant us the willingness to take up the whole armor of God so that we would be able to stand in this dark and difficult world. Grant us a ready defense and strengthen us by your Word that we might be able to rightly deal with all temptations to sin and respond correctly to false ideas and kingdoms that have erected themselves against you. We know that you hold all those who would rebel against you in derision. You laugh at them as they profess to be wise yet prove to be fools because they do not humble themselves before you and your Anointed. We pray for the rulers of this world that you would be pleased to rescue them as you have rescued us. We pray that you would cause them to act wisely as they function in their appointed office as presidents, congressmen, senators, governors, mayors, and all other areas of the civil realm. We pray that you would use their decision to advance the true and eternal kingdom, gloriously advancing the gospel of our Lord and Savior. These things we pray through Christ our Lord, the true King, and Son of the Most High. Amen.
Scripture Meditation: Ps. 2; Eph. 6:10-18; Matt. 16:18
Prayer: Almighty God, you are holy, and everything you do is bathed in holiness. Your justice is holy. Your love is holy. Your goodness is holy. All that you are and all that you do is infinitely holy.
Nevertheless, we confess that we are sinners, and we sin daily in thought, word, and deed. Therefore, we are in great need of a mediator, and we need he, who is your Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. He is our advocate when we sin, and he is the one we name as we confess our sins to you. Thank you, Father, for not treating us as our sins deserve. Our sins are like scarlet, yet the blood of Christ washes them white as snow. We praise you for your great salvation and for delivering us from our bondage and promising to deliver us safely to our eternal rest. Therefore, we have great reason to praise you in public and private. You have given us reason to sing with immense joy. You have blessed us and given us what we need each day. There is no god like our God! Please help us, Lord, to walk according to the call you have graciously placed on our lives. Please help us love you with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength. Please grant us more of your Holy Spirit each day and strengthen us to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. These things we pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.
